TINDUR lamp: A suspension lamp that hangs in three adjustable wires with a light shade made of Icelandic driftwood. The driftwood is purchased from a farmer in North Iceland where there is a tradition for harvesting the logs that travel the ocean all the way from Siberia. For a barren land the driftwood is valuable and farmers receive it gratefully, collect it from the cost, saw and dry it.
TINDUR is of classic and familiar form while the rough texture and material use bring about fresh aesthetics where the construction elements play a big role in creating the visual whole. The wood reflects soft and warm light and as the light shines between the slats it creates a gentle shadow play in the space.
TINDUR was showcased at Design March 2011 in Reykjavík an in Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair in Stockholm februay 2012.
