Flóki – kollur

FLÓKI – kollur (felt stool)

Kollurinn er hannaður út frá austfirsku hráefni og framleiðslugetu og er samstarfsverkefni við hönnunarsamfélagið Make by Þorpið á Austurlandi. Hann er úr íslensku birku  og ullarflóka.

Hugmyndin byggir á að nota ullina sem berandi  efni, mörg lög af þæfðri  ull eru pressuð saman og fest  með  tveimur birki hliðum.

Um er að ræða frumgerð af kollinum. Kollurinn verður  þróaður áfram  og seldur  sem númeruð vara  í takmörkuðu upplagi. Flóki var frumsýndur haustið 2012 í tengslum við ráðstefnuna  MAKE  IT HAPPEN  á Austurlandi.

The concept is based, on the use of local raw materials and local production. The idea is to use wool felt as a bearing material. The wool is made in a single length that is folded up and down and  multiple layers of wool create a bearing element. The stool is soft and friendly and will gain more character with use and is shaped by its owner.

The materials in the stool is Icelandic birch and wool. The wool is the oldest and most common raw material in Iceland, but there is no tradition for using wood in furniture in Iceland. There has not been any agricultural forest in Iceland for many centuries and the first raw material from the forest is coming into the market, just recently.

The stool will be developed further and sold as a numbered limited edition product.                                                       The project was in collaboration with “Make By Þorpið”  creative community (www.make.is) in east Iceland.
